Before Treatment

  • Avoid Sun Exposure: Protect your skin from the sun for 4-6 weeks prior to minimize the risk of pigmentation issues.
  • Stop Certain Skincare Products: Discontinue the use of retinoids, AHA/BHA, and other harsh exfoliants a week before the procedure to reduce skin sensitivity.
  • No Waxing or Depilatory Creams: Avoid these in the treatment area for 2 weeks prior to prevent irritation.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water the day before your treatment to promote better healing.
  • Medication Considerations: Inform your provider about all medications and supplements you’re taking, as some may need to be paused.

Post Treatment

  • Downtime: Expect a recovery period where the skin will be red, possibly swollen, and may peel, particularly after the CO2 Peel. Downtime can vary based on treatment intensity.

Here, one of our experienced providers will discuss your skin concerns, aesthetic goals and medical history to determine which combination of RF microneedling and laser is the right fit for you. This is the perfect opportunity to ask questions and express any concerns.

Procedure

On the day of your procedure, we’ll start by applying a topical numbing cream to the treatment area to ensure your comfort. If you’re enhancing your experience with PRP, we’ll do a small blood draw at this point as well.

Then, the RF Microneedling handpiece is then gently pressed against the skin, sending precise micro-needles to various depths, depending on your specific needs. You may feel a slight pressure and warmth as the RF energy is delivered, but the treatment is generally well-tolerated.

If a laser is part of your treatment plan, we’ll provide you with protective eyewear, then use the CO2 handpiece over the treatment area for more surface-level concerns.

Recovery

Immediately following the treatment, it’s normal to experience some redness and swelling, similar to a mild sunburn for a few days. After a laser peel, you’ll develop tiny scabs that will slough off over the next 3–4 days as the skin completes its exfoliation process. 

Most patients are able to resume their normal activities within 24 hours, but it’s important to protect the skin from direct sun exposure and follow any post-treatment care instructions provided.

Follow-Ups

Follow-up appointments allow us to monitor your progress and ensure your skin is healing properly. While improvements can be seen after just one session, optimal results often require a series of treatments, spaced a few weeks apart.
